I bought this as I was fed up buying cheaper lesser models. This toaster is a classic solid piece of kit. It toasts well and each slot is big enough to take even the biggest doorstop of home made bread. Heating up cold toast works well and it looks good on the kitchen unit. I am a big fan of Russell Hobbs toaster and once again this one has not let me down. This is one of very few metal classic 2 slice toasters I found on the net which will comfortably toast tall bread, crumpets, tea cakes, hot cross buns, thick sliced, thin sliced, frozen. It takes a little tuning to get each of them right - but at least they will fit in the slots.

Although advertised as the brushed model I received the chromed model - which is actually what I'd prefer as it matches my kettle. Great retro 2 slice toaster toaster, fits huge pieces of bread, but on their side. Really wide, and also deep slots. Makes great crispy toast, crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy inside. Even toasting across the slice too. My main criticism is how hard it is to keep clean. Not a fault of the product, just something to be aware of. Unless you are massively on with your cleaning its going to look daubed up fairly quickly. Maybe make sure you are getting the brushed one if you're worried about keeping it clean, could be because mine is a cheaper graded version is why I got the chromed one? It wobbles. I've fixed this though by gluing another tiny piece of rubber to one of the existing rubber feet. At long last a metal 2 slice toaster that takes a whole slice of bread and does it properly. If I do have a moan then it's a bit slow and the first slice, when starting from cold, is not so well done as subsequent slices. You could increase the timer for the first slice but knowing my memory I would forget for the second use and have burnt toast. This is the only smallish toaster which has a long enough slot to take a slice of home made bread from a Panasonic bread maker. Fortunately it also makes evenly coloured toast in a reasonable time. Our old toaster gave up in a fit of sparks and smoke, so I needed a replacement fast. I chose this toaster because it had a good brand name looked good and was well priced. It was delivered within 48 hours of ordering and we immediately put it to use as it arrived early morning.

This is a replacement for a similar 4-slice toaster which eventually refused to stay switched on. As it was seldom used for 4 slices we have gone back to old-fashioned 2-slice job. So far it is good and when you get used to standing the bread on the tail and not the side it certainly makes it so much easier to remove. Only had it for 1 week but problem appears to be bread does not toast evenly on both sides. One side can be perfect and other side slightly overdone. Here's hoping we are not going to continue to be a little disappointed. I just wanted a basic, no frills, speedy toaster that could also toast from frozen ( when I forget to take the bread from the freezer!)
